Bridge to Elsewhere Anthology Kickstarter

As I write this, it’s almost the weekend and I’m settling in for a few days of story revisions and writing related work. I have a handful of stories coming out in 2022 if all goes well – two that are finished and accepted, one that I’m revising this weekend, and one that is only a few opening sentences in my notebook. (That last one is a problem child.)

However, one of the two finished stories is going to be in the Bridge to Elsewhere anthology, edited by Julia Rios and Alana Joli Abbott, published by Outland Entertainment. The anthology is centered around space exploration and daring crews. My story “The Music of a New Path” is about an AI ship that changes course without warning, while the crew races to figure out why before it’s too late. It was fun to write!

The project is currently running a Kickstarter and the list of authors included for this project is amazing. Please consider supporting the anthology here.

Podcasts and Kickstarters

Hello all! It’s been a while since my last update. I’ve been busy working on a new project this summer, and if all goes well, that should be available online soon.

In the meantime, I should mention I was on an episode of Coode Street Podcast. Gary K. Wolfe and Jonathan Strahan were kind enough to host me for the “Ten Minutes With…” series. Gary and I chatted about what I’ve been reading during the pandemic. Which, if you know me, I love rambling about books.

The second thing I should mention is that The Long List Anthology Volume 6 Kickstarter is now live and available to purchase books and/or ebooks through. This is an annual anthology that publishes the stories and novelettes didn’t quite make the Hugo Award final ballot. “Give the Family My Love” just missed the finalists cutoff this year, but the Short Story ballot was full of amazing stories, so I can’t complain.

If you’d like to support one more Kickstarter, Uncanny Magazine is in its final week of its annual Kickstarter. I love this magazine and it has been the home for several of my stories and essays, most recently the novelette “Burn or the Episodic Life of Sam Wells as a Super.”

Disabled People Destroy Science Fiction and Other News

So I’m home from my adventures in Seattle. I’ll have a post up about my Clarion West experience tomorrow, but first, I wanted to point to a Kickstarter that’s happening right now and a contributing essay that I wrote for it.

Disabled People Destroy Science Fiction is a continuation of an anthology series focused on underrepresented authors and characters in science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Previously, there have been Destroy anthologies for women, people of color, and queers and they’ve all been excellent. Now it’s time for disabled artists to destroy stereotypes in speculative fiction too. Here’s my personal essay on why disability representation in fiction is important.

Okay, so that’s one big piece of news. My other exciting announcement is that my story “Graffiti Guardians” will be published in Mythic Delirium! I believe it’s going to be in Issue 4.4, but I will post an update when I know for certain.
